Rest and relaxation

restToday I am taking a day off. A day to just simply be and rest.
No studying of the dhamma, no in depth Blog post, no effort put into the path.
I think that my path is often like rowing a boat to cross a river. But I am still human, and I think that once in awhile it’s a good idea to take a break from rowing and just enjoy the gentle current; the tranquility of the waves against the side of the boat, the smell of the fresh air, the sun shining on my face, and the birds singing all around me.
My Dad always used to say to me “All things in moderation, my Son”. And of course the Buddha taught the Middle Way.
I think it is OK to take a break, and enjoy this life just as it is.
Who knows, perhaps in this time of non-effort I am more Buddha like than any other time. But today I am not concerned with this. Today is a vacation day filled with the wonders and joys that are all around me. Let the Sun shine, the rain storms come, even the snow can fly. I’m on vacation today, and will enjoy every moment!
I hope you too will be mindful of the self, and take a day off if you need it.

May you be well, happy and peaceful.
