Karma Karma Karma Chameleon

Boy George Then

You come and go, You come and go.Boy George and Culture Club sang this song in 1983, and I’m not sure they truly were trying to send a Buddhist message. But it does seem they really had the right idea.

Boy George Now

You see I have been thinking and reading a lot about Karma (Pali: Kamma) lately, and this song always pops in my head.
I think a lot of people, myself included, have some misconceptions about Karma. Many think it is like the expression “what goes around, comes around”. This is very inaccurate actually.
Karma is about every action causing a reaction. And I have learned that wrong actions cannot be undone by some right action.
Karma means to learn from these actions so you do not repeat them. The past is the past, it cannot be undone or made up for. Forgive yourself, and gain some wisdom and knowledge from this.
Always we are in the present moment. All things past and future are simply illusions.
Be mindful, wise, loving and compassionate. Let that be your Karma.
Remember, we all come and go… we come and go.

May you be well, happy and peaceful.
