Interview with a Tulku (reincarnated Lama)

Tulku Jamyang Gyatso

The Lama and me

A recent visit from a Tibetan monk (Lama) has offered me the extremely rare and fortunate opportunity to not only learn about Vajrayana Buddhism, but also Pranayama yoga, Tibetan culture, Hinduism and much more. Tulku Jamyang Gyatso is a fascinating human being that just exudes a very special warmth and openness that one can’t help but feel immediately upon meeting him. A gentle and soft-spoken man with a very good command of the english language, his modest and humble manner is unlike that of anyone else I’ve encountered. Reincarnated or not, this is a very special human being.
I realized rather quickly that this experience should not be solely for my own benefit, but one that should be shared with others. So I asked Tulku, or TJ as many call him, if he would kindly grant me an interview for the purpose of posting it here for all of you. He graciously accepted, and the following is the fruit of our wonderful time together. Rather than transcribe this and perhaps leave out any subtleties, I have decided instead to offer you the actual recording of our conversation. Please enjoy it.
